NNO stands for National Network Origin — a system of local survey origins established across Nigeria. Each town has a known benchmark with precise Northing and Easting coordinates relative to that local origin. Surveyors use these to reference field measurements before converting to national or global coordinate systems.
The Minna Datum is Nigeria's official geodetic datum, based on the Clarke 1880 ellipsoid. It was established by the Federal Surveys of Nigeria and is used for all official mapping, cadastral surveys and engineering projects in Nigeria. It has three belt projections: West, Mid and East, plus UTM Zones 31N and 32N.
Select the NNO → UTM/WGS84 tab, choose your local origin from the Ogun State table, enter your local Northing and Easting, choose your output system, then click Convert. The tool adds the origin coordinates to give you the full national or UTM coordinates.
UTM Zone 31N covers western Nigeria (roughly west of 6°E longitude), including Lagos, Ogun, Oyo and Edo states. UTM Zone 32N covers eastern Nigeria (east of 6°E), including Abuja, Kano, Enugu and Rivers states. Ogun State falls primarily in Zone 31N.
Yes. Use the WGS84 → UTM or WGS84 → Minna tabs to convert GPS coordinates (decimal degrees latitude/longitude) to Nigerian survey systems. This is useful for checking GPS readings against survey data.
